Before I get really get into the question, I have to say that I personally don't! Instead I love different things about different times gone by. I love the glamour of the 1930s, the fashion of the 1940s, the frivolity of the fifties, the emergence of strong independent women in the sixties, the styles and music of the seventies and so on. So based on all of the above, you can gather that my style, look, interests, home decor etc. are very eclectic and that's just how I like it!
Does anyone have a fondness for a particular age or decade and why?
The 1980s. It's when I grew up. Need I say more!
I always think I do have a favorite but I'm forever changing my mind! Right now it's the fifties for the style and the major changes that were taking place. I feel that was the decade that was beginning to shape modern day life as we know it today.
Well I'm another one who loves different things about different decades. I think that my home is a real mishmash of styles from different decades (and I do hope it all works together!) but I have to say that my ultimate favourite is the eighties without a doubt.
I'm a bit like you Chanteuse in that I like different things about different decades. I was born in the early seventies so I feel an affinity for the decade into which I were born and that I remember quite well. But if I had to pick a favourite, it would be the forties. I have a real interest in the war years and while I agree, it was an awful time for those who had to live through it, there are lots of things I love about that time. That sense of community, respecting authority, commitment to family, friendship and marriage. And yes, I do like the styles from that time too.
