An Extra Slice of Angel Cake!
I'm Angel Noire. I'm an old soul and I've always
had an old head on young shoulders (so I've been told!)
- even before it really did become an old head on now old
shoulders! And in case you couldn't tell... I love old things and
an old way of life! There's a side of me that's very Joan Jett....
But there's also another side that's very Doris Day!
And I suppose that An Extra Slice of Nostalgia Pie is home to
that particular side. I'm an English teacher, blogger and
history major who hails from old England, and now lives
in New England!

There are many things that have ignited my passion for nostalgia and all things vintage, and it's a very big part of who I am. Not that I'm saying for a moment that I constantly live in the past, but immersing myself in all that is nostalgic is definitely my happy place, and it's a great place to visit - especially when you want to escape the madness of the modern world which doesn't always make sense to me.
Being a fan of vintage/retro and the written word, it was very obvious from a young age that I was destined to become a heavy metal superstar English teacher and nostalgia blogger, and these factors came together beautifully in my first blog Nostalgia Pie, and the inspiration for that particular site came from rediscovering an assortment of forgotten gems from my childhood and teen years, as well as a combined love for my parents' teen years of the flower power sixties and disco diva seventies, which all sounds so cool that I wish I could have experienced both first hand!

But it was during the third and current incarnation of Nostalgia Pie (you haven't checked it out yet? Why ever not!) that I discovered an interest in a time that went even further back than the 1960s.
And I realized that I needed a place for all these findings and musings - so
An Extra Slice of Nostalgia Pie was born!

But it's not all about books, movies and vintage finds - as fabulous
as those are. Since moving to America, my hectic, chaotic,
sleep-deprived London lifestyle where I was always on the go has
given way to a way of life that is altogether, slower, calmer, and a
lot less extravagant... And that's just how I like it!

But it wasn't always like that. Being a die-hard Londoner and proud of it,
moving not just to another country but the country has been a bit of a shock
to the system. I'm used to a very fast-paced lifestyle, and the night owl and
fun-loving city girl is still there so I still sometimes crave the vibrance and buzz of
city life. But I'm gradually getting used to a slower pace of life; simpler things; more leisurely pursuits, and a more make-do-and-mend lifestyle which involves learning new skills and adopting new habits. I love nothing more than pottering around the kitchen which is fast becoming my favourite room in the house. Before coming to America, I can honestly say that I couldn't bake to save my life! But it's amazing how quickly you learn when you live in a country that doesn't have sausage rolls, Yorkshire puddings, Christmas cake and mince pies. And yes, I have seen scones in the supermarkets out here but the homemade ones are way better!
I've also recently learnt to crochet and I'm having lots of fun with that. Now I have to learn to get to grips with the sewing machine that's been sitting in the corner of my dining room and gathering dust! I grew up watching my mum sew lovely clothes for herself and for us kids, not to mention bedding for my two younger siblings. But sadly it's a skill I've never learnt although I'd love to learn now.

Vintage vamps and vixens, I give you... An Extra Slice of Nostalgia Pie!
